Government of Indonesia established PT Hutama Karya as a driver of the nation's strong economy in construction. At first, this BUMN has a name Hollandsche Beton Maatschappij (HBM) in the Dutch colonial period.
Private companies were then nationalized in 1961 under Government Regulation (PP) No. RI. 61/1961. At that time, the company became PN Hutama Karya and in 1973 changed its name to PT Hutama Karya.
Status of these construction company was also turned into a Limited Liability Company on March 15, 1973. Up to now, set March 29 as the birthday of PT Hutama Karya.
